  16. 1. WHAT IS THE BUSINESSCARDS SOFTWARE?
  17. ======================================
  18. BusinessCards for Windows is a free form database program, useful for
  19. keeping track of any type of textual information. You can use
  20. BusinessCards to organize and manage any vital information, such as
  21. addresses, references, notes, etc.
  22.  
  23. BusinessCards is extremely intuitive and easy to use software. I've
  24. tried to make it to be more useful, than Windows Cardfile. BusinessCards
  25. has friendly and convenient folio-like user interface with alphabetic
  26. tabs and flipping pages. I expect you will be amazed by how fast you can
  27. learn to use it effectively.

  29. With BusinessCards you decide how to present and organize information.
  30. Instead of using predefined fields and record layouts, offered by most
  31. database programs and personal information managers, in BusinessCards
  32. you decide how to format and display your data. Moreover, you may use
  33. BusinessCards to store random data, such as video or CD titles, short
  34. articles, descriptions of collection items, etc.

  36. BusinessCards is compact. There are no requirements for megabytes of
  37. free disk space or extra memory to run the program. So if you are busy
  38. business traveller, you will be able to keep both program and data files
  39. on diskette and use them at client's site. Since BusinessCards  directly
  40. reads and writes Windows Cardfile files, there should be minimum
  41. problems, converting your existing address or price database.

  43. Starting with version 3.0 BusinessCards package contains another great
  44. program - BusinessDialer, which allows you to use your modem and dial
  45. phone numbers from inside BusinessCards.

  48. 2. WHAT IS IN DISTRIBUTION KIT?
  49. ===============================
  50. Normally, BusinessCards distribution kit consists of archive file
  51. BCR307.ZIP (or BCARDS.ZIP), which includes the following files:

  70. 3. HOW TO INSTALL BUSINESSCARDS?
  71. ================================
  72. In order to install BusinessCards software you need Windows 3.1 or
  73. Windows for Workgroups 3.1 or later, 2 MB of RAM and 550K of free disk
  74. space. Both BusinessCards and BusinessDialer passed extensive tests
  75. under final beta of Windows'95 and are fully compatibe with that new
  76. operating system.

  78. Create a directory specifically for BusinessCards, such as C:\BCARDS.
  79. Copy the distribution file to that directory. Then run archive utility
  80. (such as PKUNZIP or ARJ) to unpack the files. If you use Windows Program
  81. manager, follow the instructions below. If you have other Windows shell
  82. installed (such as Norton Desktop for Windows), please refer to
  83. appropriate documentation on how to add a new program object to that
  84. shell.

  86. In Program Manager you can easily create a visible BusinessCards icon.
  87. To do that, first, select 'New' command in 'File' menu. Next, in 'New
  88. Program Object' dialog box choose 'Program Item'. In 'Program Item
  89. Properties' dialog box use the follwoing commands:

  91.          Description: BusinessCards
  92.        Commmand line: C:\BCARDS\BCARDS.EXE
  93.    Working directory: C:\BCARDS

  95. Press 'Ok' button until you get back to the Program Manager. The
  96. BusinessCards icon should appear in current Program Manager's window. To
  97. run the program just double click on the its icon. Follow the same
  98. procedure to install BusinessDialer and help files for both of the
  99. programs:

  113. There is complete documentation and information on how to use
  114. BusinessCards in the on-line Help.

  116. In case you would like to get rid of installed copy of BusinessCards,
  117. just remove program directory with all existing files. BusinessCards
  118. does not creates or updates any Windows system or initialization files.

  121. 4. HOW TO REGISTER THE PROGRAM?
  122. ===============================
  123. This software is a fully operational program. I have made it this way so
  124. that you can have a real look at it, and then decide whether
  125. BusinessCards fit your needs or not. If you do find it useful, the
  126. author asks that you please register your copy. Registration fee is just
  127. $29.95. This include registration of BOTH BusinessCards and
  128. BusinessDialer.

  130. For this sum you will receive your personal serial number and:
  131.  
  132.     1. Original diskette with most up to date version of BusinessCards
  133.        for Windows software plus registration bonus -- BrainCubes
  134.        game for Windows.
  135.  
  136.     2. Your personal serial number to register the program. The initial
  137.        registration reminder dialog box which appears at the beginning
  138.        of the program is removed when you install your registered copy.
  139.        Also, your name will appear in Help/About dialog box and word
  140.        `UNREGISTERED' will be removed from program's title bar.
  141.  
  142.     3. The watermark printing is completely disabled in registered
  143.        version, so your printed output would contain no registration
  144.        reminder phrase.

  146.     4. Fully functional version of BusinessDialer (beyond 30 days free
  147.        trial period).

  149.     5. By registering, you are assured of receiving the most up-to-date
  150.        and full-featured product possible. Next program updates will be
  151.        free for all registered users and subsequent major upgrades will
  152.        be offered with significant discount.

  154.     6. Registered users will receive free unlimited technical support
  155.        over fax or email for their version of BusinessCards.
